The Association of
Women Psychiatrists (AWP),
founded by Dr. Alexandra Symonds in 1983, is the
only organization of women psychiatrists. There are
over 12,000 women psychiatrists in the United
States, and many more throughout the world.
Our mission:
To mobilize women psychiatrists to work together
for quality mental health care of all persons,
particularly women. AWP promotes inclusive
leadership, professional development, and networking
among women psychiatrists. AWP advocates for women
psychiatrists and patients alike, through supporting
mental health: research, education, and clinical
care, informed by gender.

 |
form a national
and international network of women
psychiatrists |
